Software Tools

CanmetENERGY's engineering experts have developed innovative clean energy project analysis, modelling and simulation software tools. These tools are key enablers to assess various types of renewable energy and energy efficient technologies to meet Canada's clean air and greenhouse gas emissions objectives. They increase industry's ability to optimize integrated energy efficient design in domestic and international markets, reduce operating costs, comply with code requirements, and qualify for funding and incentive programs.

Photovoltaic potential and solar resource maps of Canada
The maps give estimates of the electricity that can be generated by grid-connected photovoltaic arrays without batteries (in kWh/kW) and of the mean daily global insolation (in MJ/m2 and in kWh/m2) for any location in Canada on a 10 km grid.

Recommissioning (RCx) Pre-Screening Tool
This tool has been developed to help select the best building candidate(s) for recommissioning. Prioritizing a portfolio of buildings and selecting those with the greatest likelihood for success can assist with long-term planning and enable to capitalize on short term paybacks. This pre-screening tool is designed to be used at the planning phase of the standardized RCx process.
